BillableTimer user utility application is the first product that JumpApps developed and utilized the powerful QUALCOMM BREW™ technical and business model. Billable Timer provides a user with control over their wireless phone charges by conveniently indicating minutes used and available in their monthly phone plan. The time used is displayed in a bar-graph format constructed of fish swimming on screen and text display of minutes remaining in month. The number of days before the plan rolls over to a new billing month and monthly batch of time to use is also displayed. BillableTimer© BREW™ Application Product Description. BillableTimer was an excellent concept. In the early days of BREW the carriers profited from users running over their usage plans and paying premium for additional minutes. When AT&T released the iPhone they experienced users complaints from expensive charges for exceeding their data plans in conjunction with the carrier network overload from the higher data usage. AT&T responded by releasing the product myWireless™ to help people stay within their plans and minimize network data overload. myWireless™ utilized open access to carrier servers and billing database, where BillableTimer had to keep track of all billing on the client device. The BillableTimer implementation consequently was much more challenging to implement. In summation BillableTimer business model was before it's time and AT&T myWireless number 2 rating in PCMAG.com substantiates the validity of the product concept. |
